Spring Acrostic Poem

                                 Spring is here 
                                 Playing in the sun 
                                 Raindrops
                                 In the hot sun 
                                 Now is warm
                                 Green grass 

  I wrote this acrostic poem because Spring is my 2 favorite season or the year.I even my like spring because it is a day of beauty and it is fun to play in the soft grass.The last thing I like spring is that it is sunny all day.

Rahi, Ved & Ohm's 3D Printing Learning Story

Rahi, Ved and Ohm chose to participate in 3D Printing during iExperience during Week 7-10 this term. We initially learnt about the Thinker’s Key called ‘BAR’. BAR stands for Bigger, Add, Replace. To practise, the learners had to pick either a pen, lunch box or tennis racquet to make a feature bigger, add to the item and replace something. The learners had as much creative license as they needed and then they reflected on how functional the item had become - could it still be used for its original purpose?
The next stage was to come up with an item that we use at school and repeat the BAR process. Rahi, Ved and Ohm decided on a upgrade to the wheelie chairs we have in our habitat.
Rahi, Ved and Ohm had to use the website TinkerCad to design their new and improved chair. They had to use the pre-existing shapes to form their 3D model which was then printed out by our LH1 3D printer.
After analysing their printed model, the boys were able to write a description about who would use it, why they designed it and what its features were. They also spent some time reflecting on improvements and redesigning it on TinkerCad to show these changes.

Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Rahi, Ved and Ohm were collaborative during this process by sharing ideas and coming up with other ways to show creativity (Thinking, Participating & Contributing). They demonstrated curiosity by engaging with the entire technology process of designing, making, redesigning and evaluating. Rahi, Ohm and Ved were connected as they were able to show their learning in three different mediums (paper, digital and printed model).
Next Learning Steps
  • Complete the second design on TinkerCad and print if time allows.
  • Use the 3D printer as a component of an iExplore.
  • Create a tutorial video to teach other learners in the habitat how to use TinkerCad.

Poem

                                                           The suns up,
                                                          the sky is blue,
                                                  Its beautiful and so are you
     

                                          I Worte this  poem because I like summer and
                                      summer is my favourite time of the year, I like summer
                                because it is the year of lots and lots of sports,  I like summer
                           I can go to the beach,go to the pools eat ice-cream and I can drink
                          cold drinks.I even like summer because it is hot and I get to play,
                          drink and eat lots of things that I love anytime and every time I want.

Swimming

On a Sunday morning I woke up and had breakfast then it was time for my friend and I were going to do swimming.After I went upstairs and wore my swimming cloths and went back down stairs and went to my friends car and then I said bye to my dad.Then I went in the car an then we left to the swimming pools, me and my friend were playing a game the game was that we had to spot lots of toyota cars and count them and then in about 5 mins we were here at the pools then he told me how much toyota cars he got and he got 30 cars and I got 25 cars and then we add them together and we got 55 cars in total. Then in 2 mins we got here at the pools, then we went in the pool and played for 10 mins and then my friend had to go to his swimming lessons so then he went to his swimming lessons and I was still in the pool I had to wait haft an hour but finally my friends swimming lessons were over so then I got my ball and we played a game.We had to throw the ball over a line and the other person had to catch the ball to get points it was first to 5 so then we played for 3 mins and the winner was me but then we had to go home so then we changed and went back home.

Ohm & Justin - Author's Purpose Learning Story

Ohm and Justin attended a literacy workshop which was aimed at one of the Learning Progressions that each learner has on their Learning Pathway. We were looking specifically at how an author might use features on the cover and spine, in the blurb and in the text. The learners had to work together to analyse a text and identify why the author included these features and what they told the viewer about the text.
Ohm and Justin worked as a group on a variety of novels, connecting how the author may have used features that were the same or different on each text. They showed an increased capability in this when talking together about how the cover image, title, blurb and first page gave an idea of the theme and the author’s purpose. As they collaborated, each of the boys were able to extend their own knowledge by building on it with the ideas of the other group members.

Next Learning Steps
  • Finish a Best Fit Novel and analyse the Author’s Purpose after reading the entire book.
  • Record this analysis either in writing, video or audio.
  • Upload this as evidence in their Literacy Learning Pathways.



As I woke up in my warm bed,I was ready for my first day at school.I got ready and then had breakfast and me and my mum went in the car so she could drop me at school.Then finally we got here, then Mr Mc Neil showed me were to go and then I got in class I was nervous but I went in.Then Mr Mc Neil showed me the teachers and then the teacher told me their names and then someone came to me and said do you want to be friends and so I said yes
